Famous Last Words Week 11

I cannot believe that I am almost done with this class for the semester. The entire class went very fast. I have learned a lot about retelling a story, and writing in general. I love how much creativity and imagination we get to use in this class. It makes it a lot more laid back and an enjoyable class.
The class never fails to impress me with their writing abilities. I love being able to read other classmate’s storytelling and projects each week. There is a lot of creativity and different writing styles in our class.

When I am writing, I focus more on being detail oriented and adding twists. This was my weak point at the beginning of the year, but I believe that I am improving a little bit each week. I try my hardest to do my writing when I am not rushed. I try to do this so that I make fewer mistakes and have time to go through it thoroughly.

My other classes are definitely keeping me busy the last few weeks of the semester. I am in capstone, so I have to test all of our participants for our study. It is actually a lot of fun because it is hands on and we get to test what we wanted. However, it does take up a lot of my time. Also, my capstone project is done in a group. Which is not a bad thing, but every group assignment always has its downfalls. I believe that this semester has gone faster than any other semester in my college career.

Today is Easter Sunday. I hope everyone got to spend time with family. My family does an Easter egg coloring contest. This year my boyfriend won and I got second. There is not a prize for second, but first place gets a trophy and twenty dollars. It is a lot of fun.

Famous Last Words: Week 9

I am glad that we had spring break to finish the end of week 9. I was overwhelmed with classes and tests the week before spring break. This class has really helped my writing skills and my ability to proofread others work. We definitely have a lot of practice doing it. I still have to be somewhere quite to be able to write and to come up with ideas. However, I have not tried many different writing styles. I tend to stay in my comfort zone and do not experiment too much.

I wish that I would have used the week of spring break to get ahead. However, I did not. I did not go anywhere over spring break. I enjoyed having a break from school though. My best friend had her baby over break, so I was able to spend a lot of time with her and her newborn. Also, I got to go shopping and play with my dogs. It was a nice, calm, and relaxing week.

Now that spring break is over it is time to finish out this semester strong. We are on the downhill slide until graduation. I hope that I can keep my motivation with it being so close until graduation. I still have a lot of tests and assignments in my classes. I even have a test this week. Clearly I have not studied for it yet since I did not do anything over spring break for school. My capstone class probably has the most work left. We get to start our experiments and testing people this week. This class is a lot of work, but it is cool getting able to conduct our own experiment. I am excited that we are half way through this semester. I am hoping I am able to finish this class early so I can focus on my other classes more. I hope that it stays warm and sunny like it is today. I feel like I am in such a better mood when it is nice outside.

Famous Last Words Week 7

This week has been a pretty good week, except for the weather. Yes, I like when class is cancelled, but I would much rather it be sunny and warm. My dog is tired of being stuck inside because of the snow.

This week, I have really noticed writing stories has gotten a little easier. Each week, I learn something new about writing. This makes it interesting and keeps my eyes open for suggestions. Everyone’s comments are very helpful. They are helpful in the sense of encouragement and constructive criticism. I really do read the comments given to me and take in consideration what was said. Needless to say, I have learned a lot about comma use. However, I am still not perfect at commas. I try to do my writing in places where it is quite. This helps me think and lets me really use my imagination. Also, when it is quite, I am able to focus more and not get distracted.

I have noticed how well all of the projects in our class are going. Everyone has such a different perspective of writing and topic for their storybook or portfolio. I think they people are successful when you can tell if they have used their imagination. I am overly impressed with how unique every story I read is. I like how everyone takes on stories from a different point. Even changing the smallest detail can change an entire story.

I am looking forward to next week, since it is a review week. I am hoping to work ahead so I can focus more on my other classes. However, it is midterm season, so I have a lot of tests and assignments to do. Also, next week, I believe that it is supposed to warm up later in the week.  This needs to happen because yesterday (Sunday March 1st) was the first day of spring. I am more than ready for spring weather.

Famous Last Words: Week 6

I can say that this week has been ten times better than the last two weeks. Let’s start with Monday; yes I am glad that OU did not open until 10 because my 8am class was cancelled. However, I wish that they either would have closed all day or told us the night before. I live in OKC, so I have to leave early because of morning traffic. Therefore, I was just about to leave my house when I got the call about school. I really needed extra sleep.

I am glad that we are finally getting to comment on each other’s projects. I know that we have all been working hard and using our imaginations, which actually can be tough at times. Being able to see everyone’s progress is wonderful. I am still overly impressed with how talented my classmates are, everyone is so good at using their imagination and writing stories.
Since, we are in week 6, I am feeling a little more confident in my storytelling and writing abilities. Clearly, I am FAR from perfect and can still use a lot more practice. This week, I have done most of my assignments in my office room at my house. I mainly do my assignments after work and while I am eating dinner. I think that food really does fuel my brain and makes writing a little easier.
Overall, I am enjoying this class. I am working on my project for this week still and also on some of the project comments. I am hoping to get ahead in this class this weekend, so I can focus on my other classes. I am really looking forward to adding to my storybook each week. I like my topic that I picked, and I hope that I can make my stories interesting, so that you (my classmates) will enjoy reading them.

Famous Last Words Week 4

Well I have to do my famous last words early this week because tomorrow morning I get my wisdom teeth out.  I am actually very nervous. I have never had a major procedure done, besides when I was a baby and five years old. This has already been a very eventful week. I have actually been sick all week. I did not go to class Monday and got to spend my day at the doctor on Tuesday. Therefore, all of my work this week has been done while lying in bed or on the couch. I think that I actually write better when I am sitting up. I am more than ready to feel better.

Besides that, I have enjoyed my reading this week. The Jataka Tales (Babbitt) were very easy to follow and to read. This made it helpful since I have had zero energy this week. I can only imagine how I am going to be this weekend with my wisdom teeth. I liked these stories because they were all about different animals. Some of the stories were very realistic as well.

My classes are going well so far. I got a little behind since I missed class on Monday, but I am trying my best to catch up fast. This is because I have two tests next week. They are both on Wednesday and they both cover a lot of information. I have already started studying for these tests. Highlighters, note cards, study guides, and notes are everywhere around me.

Since it is not Thursday, I have not had the chance to comment on my other classmates blogs. I know that everyone is doing a great job. I am very anxious to see how everyone’s storybooks or portfolios come out. Everyone has such a great imagination, so I know they will all be amazing.

Famous Last Words Week 3

This week has been a great week. The weather has been gorgeous! Wednesday was beautiful outside and I was stuck inside all day in classes. With that being said, I am not looking forward to the cold and rain tomorrow (Saturday). I am looking forward to the super bowl on Sunday. If you have not seen the new puppy Budweiser commercial you have watch it! Puppy commercial  I only had one class on Monday, which kind of threw me off since I am still not used to my new schedule. I went from having Tuesday and Thursday class to Monday and Wednesday class.

I am trying to get ahead in this class, especially since I get my wisdom teeth out next week. I am not looking forward to having a swollen mouth. I am still working on this week’s project of brainstorming styles for our storybook. I did however, figure out my topic. This week I really enjoyed the unit I read. I chose to read Aesop fables. They were easy to follow along and read. The theme/lessons of each story were very practical and could be used in everyday life. I hope I can read more units like this one as the semester goes on.

I am still overly impressed with how well my classmates are at storytelling. I cannot wait to see what everyone chose for their storybooks. I have a feeling that everyone is going be so creative.  I have noticed that people are even improving. Maybe the comments from other students are really helpful I also have enjoyed how people have changed the color and font of their blog. This makes it more unique. I have, myself, changed the color of my own blog. I need to change the font as well.

Kind of a random thought, but I finally watched the movie The Fault in our Stars. I highly recommend it. Yes, it is sad but it has a great story-line. I enjoyed watching it and would watch it again.

Famous Last Words for Week 2

Week 2 was way different from week 1. I feel like I have learned a lot more about all the different stories and even storybooks from past students. I am overly impressed with how well my classmates are at storytelling. Everyone has such a great big imagination and are able to change up stories to make them their own. The stories were successful if I could not tell you what was going to happen. The stories I read were all good at making one part of the plot a twist. I enjoy reading the stories that have happily ever after endings. I am also impressed with the comments being left by other classmates. One they are encouraging because other people like what I have written. Also, they are very helpful. I enjoy the constructive criticism; it really helps with my writing.

Week 2 for me was a little more difficult because I am still not the best at writing stories. I am still trying to figure out what style and strategies work best for me. I feel that I still do my best work when I am alone with zero distractions. This week however, I did enjoy reading Cupid and Psyche. I honestly had no idea what the story was going to be about. I learned about who Psyche was and got to read their twisted love story. Of course, I loved the happy ending.

My other classes are starting to pick up more than they were in the first week. I had my first quiz this week, which I got a 100 on! Since I am in all health and exercise science classes, I do not see many connections between the stories I am reading. Maybe as the semester goes on there will be stories about the health of a person, or even someone exercising. You never know what can come up! This class is full of everything, which I truly enjoy.

Famous Last Words Week 1

Wow! This week was very interesting. I was not really sure what this class was all about. I love the storytelling part of the class. This really lets me use my imagination and be as creative as I want. I have never blogged before. Therefore, this week I have enjoyed getting to learn something new. Pinterest is also a great way to explore this topic. I love looking through all the pictures and then exploring the websites that they are from.  I have done my best writing/storytelling when I am in my own room. For some reason I feel like I am able to be more creative and it is easier to think of ideas. I enjoy getting to tell the stories how we want. I like the freedom of this class. We get to do things how we interpret them. This is a great way to express who we really are. I am also very impressed with how creative my other classmates are. I really enjoy reading other people’s ideas. It was also cool to look at past semesters storybooks to see what we are working towards. This gives me an idea of what to expect over this semester. Also, to start thinking of ideas of what I want to do for my storybook. I am enjoying this class so far and I am going to try my best to keep up and even get ahead!

This is my last semester of my undergraduate. My classes are going well; however, I can tell that they will be a little challenging. Since my major is health and exercise science, I do not see many connections between them and this class. I have never had a class like this before. However, it is interesting to me and I have already learned so much in the first week!
